A Beginner's Guide to Dreamweaver Templates - Part 1: Creating the Template

First of all, thanks are in order to Sheri German for this lovely rendition of The Lake District JumpStart. Sheri's design is called Scotty's Birdland and it is this design we will be making good use of in this introductory series to using Dreamweaver's templates.

The Dreamweaver template functionality is one that makes the editing of your individual pages safe and secure. This is achieved by dividing your page into two specific areas: editable and non-editable regions. The non-editable areas are in place to protect specific areas of your code, code that will remain consistent from page to page throughout your entire web site. Editable areas in contrast will allow you to make changes to your page on a page-by-page basis. We will be investigating each of these regions as we progress through this tutorial.
