Web Design Updates Official Launch, A Quick Overview

Web Design Updates is a new place where to share unique articles and ready-to-use resources for the Web Design Community. The main objective of this PV.M Garage Side Project is to facilitate the search of useful informations related to Web and Graphic Design and Web Development.
Don’t forget, the key for our growth is the sharing.

Quick Overview on Web Site

Here’s an overview of my design process for the project.

Web Design Updates is a news aggregator website aimed exclusively at the web and graphic design community. It’s a place to find great new posts and to submit your own resources and I need a communicative and easy-to-navigate layout.

The website design was created on the basic theme of the PV.M Garage with a brown, soft-dark, background and a soft-grunge style (paper and hand-written fonts).

Header and Logo

The project borns as an extension of the User Link Feed of the Garage, for this reason also the logo follows the main “brand”, as you can see the “PV.M Character” is still present, but in WDU I use an hand-written font to get stronger the idea of the “hand-selection” during the moderation. It’s clear: the arrow invites you to submit your good stuff!

I love large header and it is evident. I’ve also added a large menu (using css sprites) and two adv spot.

Updates Container

The core of the web site is the stream of the articles. There are 20 entries in home page, each of which is shown through a nice box.

Single Post Page

A direct link to original post and some informations about the author and the web site. In this section there also is a sidebar with Recent Articles, Archive and other useful links.

Footer

In the footer there are tags cloud, a list of the best articles and users in the current month and some useful links.
